Join SUPERFRONT and Figment in celebrating the opening of the outdoor installation, PUBLIC SUMMER: Library of Immediacy, on Governors Island, Saturday, July 21 from 2-5 pm. The Library of Immediacy was designed and constructed by the architectural duo, saA, who are Amy Chang and Seo Young Shin. The event will include a performance by artist Devin Kenny, live Music by Alex Berne, and Sonnet Boom! with Ama Birch. Visitors are welcome to bring books and objects to the site that hold personal meaning to add to the growing collection at the the outdoor Library.

Located on the Parade Grounds on Governors Island, The Library of Immediacy will host an ongoing, community-curated installation by The People’s Library and artist collective, DADDY, on weekends from July 21st-September 23rd. Visitors are welcome to donate and exchange reading materials at this new satellite of the People’s Library. In addition, concurrent with The Library of Immediacy, DADDY presents #LOANER, a democratically curated, anecdotal, and didactic display of objects. Viewers are asked to present and create wall text for personal items; objects may be loaned if replaced with a similar object for display. The collection will be subsequently archived through social media and an oversized log book. Through this mediated accumulation, an index emerges that supersedes the importance of the individual.

In addition, SUPERFRONT, along with The People’s Library, DADDY, and Bed-Stuy-based arts group, FOKUS, invite you to take part in events and workshops every weekend for the duration of the summer. For a full schedule of events, such as readings and DIY bookmaking workshops, please visit our website:

This opening event is concurrent with ongoing events on Governors Island and is located next to the FIGMENT Site. For questions please contact Click here for a press release.
